Quiet day on Tivoli. Rain, thunderstorms and even tornado warnings have kept us indoors much of the day. We did, however, take time to wander around this interesting marina. Atlantic Yacht Basin has been in business since 1936 and is known for quality craftsmanship; particularly on old wooden boats. As a result the storage sheds on site have many interesting antiques; Trumpys, vintage Grand Banks, Burgers, Chris Craft, etc. We strolled through the sheds admiring many of these beauties. The queen of them all is the Principia. Built in the 1930’s this 96-foot wooden yacht with opulent mahogany paneling and crystal chandeliers was once owned by actor John Davidson, the City of Philadelphia and others. It was also the subject of some controversy; something to do with inappropriate use by a Philadelphia politician, the high cost of renovations, an FBI investigation, etc. A colorful history to say the least. I snapped a couple of photos to share.
